Your questions answered

At Pegasus we recognise that moving house at any time of life can seem daunting. Below are some of the many questions that we have answered for people considering a move, particularly those who have spent many years in their current property.

In many ways living in a Pegasus apartment will be no different from the life you value in your current home. We firmly believe in our Owners' privacy and independence, so you hold the key to your own front door and have the freedom to run your home as you wish.

If you have a personal enquiry that is not answered here, please do not hesitate to contact our Development Sales Manager at the development you are interested in or call our customer helpline who will be pleased to talk to you. Alternatively you could email your enquiry.

Apartments

Can anyone occupy a Pegasus apartment?

No. Our apartments are built and designed exclusively for the active retired. Depending on the terms of each development's lease, Owners must be typically over 60 years of age. Please check with the Development Sales Manager for the age applicable at a particular location.

Am I responsible for redecorating my apartment?

Yes. Under the terms of the lease you are required to keep the apartment in good decorative condition but, subject to these terms, you may redecorate in the colours and styles of your own choice.

Can I have my own telephone?

Yes, subject to the normal connection charges and regulations that apply at each site. It is necessary however, for each individual to apply for their own connection. Two telephone points are provided in each apartment.

How does the Careline service work?

Peverel Careline is a 24-hour emergency monitoring service designed to provide total reassurance and help put your mind at rest. The service is linked to all individual apartments, the Estate Manager's office, communal emergency call locations and all fire-warning devices.

If an emergency call is made, Peverel Careline can identify the development, the property, the occupier of the apartment and in which area of the property the emergency originated.

The Careline Control Centre, to which calls are automatically directed, is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It holds details of local emergency services, relatives and contractors numbers for speedy contact, together with relevant medical information to advise the emergency services.

The advantage of Peverel Careline is that it provides a full 24-hour emergency service, complementing the Estate Manager by covering the periods when he or she is off site, on holiday or unavailable through illness.

Can my pet move in with me?

Owners may usually keep a pet dog, cat or caged bird, subject to two conditions. Firstly, prior permission must be obtained in writing from Peverel through the Development Sales Manager.

Secondly, the pet must not cause a nuisance to neighbours, other Owners or the Landlord. If such a nuisance occurs Peverel has the right to ask you to remove the pet from the development.

No pets may be taken into the Owners' Lounge, Visitors' Suite or Laundry. Dogs must be kept on leads in communal areas, exercised off the development and not foul communal areas or grounds.

Are there any restrictions if I wish to sell my apartment?

The only restrictions are that occupiers should be able to care for themselves and be able to satisfy the age restriction requirements set out in the lease. Otherwise you are free to sell the apartment on the market or leave it in your will like any other home.
